The SAP Business One Sweet Spot Nobody Else Was Serving

Consensus International has sold and supported SAP Business One in North America for close to 20 years. Here's why it now partners almost exclusively with Wisys to serve the small and mid-sized companies everyone else was leaving behind.

An interview with Mauricio Castrillon, President, Consensus International — hosted by Paulo Almeida, Global Demand Manager for SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, SAP, for the Wisys Partner Connect series.

The gap in the middle of the market

Consensus International is a SAP Business One reseller — previously a Gold Partner — operating in the US since early 2007, with a sister company in Colombia. Serving small and mid-sized companies with logistics operations, Consensus kept hitting the same wall: the warehouse management options on the market were either too basic to matter, or complex and expensive enough to price out the exact customers who needed them most.

"In the small and medium-sized companies, the number of solutions out there available are not as flexible as what Wisys brings... there was nothing in the middle." Mauricio Castrillon, President, Consensus International

Closing that gap for 85–90% of the SAP Business One base

That gap, Consensus estimates, covers 85–90% of small and mid-sized SAP Business One customers — the "sweet spot" Wisys was built for. It's also why Consensus now brings Wisys in almost exclusively for warehouse management rather than splitting its portfolio across multiple WMS vendors.

The deciding factor wasn't just fit for the end customer — it was how much control Wisys's Design Studio handed back to Consensus as the implementing partner. Instead of opening a ticket and waiting on Wisys every time a customer's process changed, Consensus builds the change itself: receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping workflows, reconfigured graphically, in-house.

"You have a lot of flexibility, but... you do it in a very reduced time because it's very graphical. We don't need to depend on Wisys to solve almost every single requirement that customers bring to us." Mauricio Castrillon, President, Consensus International

What real-time visibility actually catches

Asked for a concrete example, Consensus pointed to real-time inventory visibility — knowing what you have, where it is, and its status — as the core value Wisys adds on top of SAP Business One. One customer discovered, almost by accident, that it was carrying $300,000 in inventory about to expire. That's the kind of blind spot real-time visibility across receiving, picking, packing, and shipping is built to close before it becomes a write-off.

The automation-before-AI angle

Consensus also frames Wisys as foundational to any future AI strategy: automated, real-time logistics data is the prerequisite AI needs to produce reliable answers. Worth revisiting as a dedicated angle once Agility Intelligence has its own named case studies to pair with this quote.

The pitch to other SAP Business One partners

Asked what he'd tell a SAP Business One partner who hasn't yet added Wisys to their portfolio:

"For the first time, with Wisys, you're going to be able to own your destiny in terms of the logistics solutions you're bringing to your customer... quick turnaround, and you will not need to depend on anybody else but yourself." Mauricio Castrillon, President, Consensus International
